After some deliberation I decided that I needed another car. So I went on the look out and found this.
It's a 2005 Forester XT - Auto. Why? Well, because auto's are awesome and I wanted something with a little more room to haul parts in and still be a comfortable, cool daily driver.
Anyways, I picked this up last Wednesday. This thing was heavily mistreated in it's old life and died due to neglect. The old owners never did the timing belt on it, and the tensioner blew and destroyed the engine.
Needless to say, I choose to use as little of the old engine as possible.
Being Me, I just happened ot have a fully built STI EJ257 in the shop, fully assembled and ready to drop in. After the engine was out, decided to hit the engine bay with some degreasers and a power washer to take off a few years of grime and general grossness from the car.
For those of you that don't know, Forester XT's are in fact built on a 2004 STI Chassis. They are so similar that they actually weigh LESS than the same year STI.
Once the engine was in, I had to decide what I was going to throw in it. I had a beautiful new 16G TD05 turbo on the shelf that was just perfect for this application and decided to install a Massive Intercooler and BOV from a GR.
Spent a few days working out the kinks, and decided to borrow some wheels for a few days from my personal collection. That, and tuning the new setup has really made this thing awesome. It's currrently making the same power as a stock STI even with it's tiny little OEM exhaust that it has with all the catalityic converters.
Next on the list is a full detial on the inside, fixing a few more of the bugs, complete the tune to get this thing really rolling.
Final thing will probably be to drop this beast 3 - 4 inches, fab up a custom turbo back exhuast and re-tune it once again.
Really looking forward to having a 300whp Auto Forester as a daily.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
